Why Hire Appellate Counsel?
Trial counsel knows the trial record and understands the sophisticated techniques of trial advocacy. When considering an appeal, it can be beneficial to hire an appellate practitioner to look at the trial record with “fresh eyes.” My case review focuses on key aspects of the record developed in the trial court, just as an appellate court does, which allows for a more accurate assessment of the viability and strength of an appeal.
In addition, I have gained thorough familiarity with appellate rules and procedures through over 30 years’ practice experience. That translates to an efficient appellate litigation process, providing greater clarity about every step and creating direct cost savings for the client.
Why Storm Appellate Law?
Some large law firms will hook you with a senior lawyer’s credentials while delegating much of the real work to junior associates (or even generative artificial intelligence). Not here. I read the record, I select the issues most likely to result in a successful appeal (which can be the most important part of the process), I conduct the legal research, and I draft the briefs — never using generative AI. You won’t have to guess who is responsible for your case.
Because my practice is focused on appeals and appellate consulting support, trial counsel remain primary counsel for future trial-level work. Clients return to trial counsel once the appeal concludes.
